Hit and Run Suspect Arrested

On November 8, 2019, our communications center received a call at 9:16 a.m. in reference to a Hit and Run accident in the 400 Block of Lee Street. Investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling on Norfleet Street crossed Lee Street striking a vehicle and causing it to turn on its side. The driver and passengers were able to escape the vehicle and were taken to Southampton Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Evidence left at the crash scene led police to the 2000 Block of Harris Street in the City of Franklin. Police units spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. A short pursuit was initiated and the suspect vehicle attempted to strike a police vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the area and was located, approximately fifteen minutes later, unoccupied.  The driver, identified as Una Been Ford, was soon located and taken into custody.

            Una Been Ford, 54, of Franklin, Virginia has been charged with Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, Suspended License,  No Insurance, Expired Registration, Felony Elude, and two counts of Assault on Law Enforcement Officers.

            She was booked and held without bond at WTRJ.
