Armed Robbery Suspect Wanted

On October 20, 2019, at 7:35 pm, a call was received by the Franklin Emergency Communications Center reporting that a resident had been robbed at gunpoint in the 500 Block of Laurel Street.

Units arrived on scene and spoke to the victim who stated that he was approached by two black males, one holding a rifle. A struggled ensued and the victim was struck with the rifle. The victim stated that his assailants went through his pockets and took his money. Franklin Fire & Rescue responded and transported the victim to Southampton Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

One of the suspects has been identified as Damian Tywon Artis, 18 years of age, from Franklin, Virginia.  Arrest warrants have been issued and Artis is currently wanted for Robbery and Felonious Assault regarding this incident.

Artis has also been charged with petit larceny and climbing into a vehicle with the intent to commit a crime in relation to a reported larceny from a vehicle parked in the Burger King parking lot, 1360 Armory Drive, Franklin, Virginia, later that same night. The suspect is described as 503 tall and weighs 98lbs, he has brown hair and brown eyes
